Emotional Ties to Food
There are so many emotional ties to food that we often find it difficult to separate what we need to eat and what we want to eat. We tend to focus on the weight because that is what we can see and feel but what we need to understand is that Weight Gain is a side effect of the way we live our lives.
When we are happy we eat. When we are fed up we eat. When we are on holiday we eat. When we get dumped we eat. When we are bored we eat and so on and so on. In order to lose weight we need to change the way we look at ourselves, the world in which we live and the way we think. We all have the power over our thoughts and words and so if there is something in our life that we don't like we have the power to change it.
Usually when we decide we are going to lose weight what happens is a part of us really does want to lose weight but another part of you, a bigger part wants to keep on living the life that has been making you so unhappy. It wants to hold onto the weight and the need to keep eating.
We need to learn to take control of this part and manage it effectively. We are in control of our own bodies. We need to stop making excuses....'I'll stop tomorrow'.....'I might as well wait until next week'......'Ive got a night out at the weekend'......'I'll get a grip of this after my holiday next month'...... 'One won't make any difference'.......'I've earned it'.........'I've been working hard and am too tired to cook'
We must STOP making excuses, and take control of our minds and bodies. We must take responsibility for the way we look, the way we feel and the way we live. When we can learn to stop making excuses, and start taking control our lives will begin to change.
